wild architecture, rooted in place.
15 acres of pristine wild woods
and bordering a protected 500-acre nature reserve, Hårtwood is Fort’s most ambitious and immersive project to date. A first-of-its-kind in Canada, this off-grid treehouse hotel offers an unparalleled experience in nature. With three private treehouses, a Nordic spa called Ro, and The Hydda—a communal space for gathering, sipping, and tasting—Hårtwood is rewriting the rules for how we travel, connect, and retreat.
Rooted in sustainability and immersive design, every detail at Hårtwood has been intentionally considered. These intimate, minimalist spaces are crafted to blur the lines between humans and nature, architecture and experience—limiting distraction and prioritizing connection.
This is treehouse living reimagined—off-grid, on purpose, and deeply connected to the natural world.

Amenities
RO | forest bathing, reimagined.
A Restorative Ritual in the Heart of the Forest
Thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly into the natural landscape, Ro, Hartwood’s Nordic Spa offers a deeply immersive wellness experience rooted in simplicity, connection, and renewal. Nestled among the trees, the spa invites guests to slow down and engage with the healing power of nature.
This off-grid hydrotherapy circuit features a wood-fired sauna, cold plunge, and forest-view hot tub, each element intentionally positioned to provide uninterrupted views of the surrounding wilderness. A central rest area with fire pit seating creates space for reflection, conversation, or simply soaking in the silence of the woods. Grab a tea, your book, or nothing at all—and let the calm of the forest do its work.
Spa access is available as an optional add-on for individual treehouse bookings. Guests who book a full property buy-out enjoy unlimited access to the spa during open hours.
Ro is a practice in presence—an invitation to find peace in stillness, and stillness in place.
THE HYDDA | gather, taste, connect.
At the heart of Hartwood is The Hydda—a warm, intentional space designed for connection, comfort, and quiet indulgence. Here, guests are invited to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of forest living: a well-crafted coffee, a thoughtful glass of wine, or a moment of stillness by the fire.
Open daily, The Hydda serves locally roasted espresso and teas, alongside a curated selection of Canadian-made provisions and goods that reflect our less-is-more philosophy. With a special focus on outdoor living and sustainability, the shop features artisan snacks, natural wellness products, and forest-inspired homewares, all chosen to enhance your time in nature.
Here guests can also purchase bottles of wine, craft beverages, and campfire-ready meal kits to enjoy back at their treehouse—perfect for a cozy night in or a sunset gathering under the trees.
Throughout the year, The Hydda becomes a natural venue for seasonal events, tastings, and curated experiences that celebrate the rhythms of the forest and the changing seasons.
For full property buy-outs, The Hydda includes access to a private dining room, ideal for chef-led meals, intimate celebrations, or small group retreats. Guests are welcome to bring in private chefs or catering partners for a tailored culinary experience inspired by local ingredients and forest flavours.
Whether you're starting your day with coffee, picking up provisions, or gathering fireside as the sun sets, The Hydda is your communal heart of Hartwood—a place to pause, share, and connect more deeply with the land and one another.
